RENTERS RIGHTS ACT 2025 – DIARISE 1 MAY 2026
1 May 2026 has been announced as the date for implementation of the first raft of measures in the Act:
- No new section 21 notices
- Most tenancies becoming periodic by default.
- Restrictions on rent in advance.
- Annual rent increases
- No more ‘bidding wars’ on properties
- No discrimination on letting to prospective tenants with families
- No discrimination on letting to prospective tenants in receipt of benefits
- New rules on tenants wanting to have pets
